TU-95MS is a strategic missile-carrying aircraft developed at the Tupolev Design Bureau in the late 1970s on the basis of the Tu-142M anti-submarine aircraft. The aircraft is designed to strike strategic targets located over long distances, even intercontinental ones, using long-range cruise missiles. The Tu-95MS is equipped with four NK-12MP turboprop engines equipped with coaxial propellers, which are among the most economical and powerful engines in the world. The aircraft ensures the performance of combat missions at any time of the year and day, in any meteorological conditions, regardless of the area where combat operations are located. Tu-95MS aircraft, together with Tu-160 aircraft, form a significant part of the Russian nuclear strike deterrent.
